A cleaning cloth is one of the most commonly used cleaning tools. Therefore, working with cloths plays a significant role in the cleaning process. It is well known that a cleaning cloth must be folded during use to achieve the maximum number of clean surfaces from a single cloth. Skillful cloth folding allows us to work aseptically and prevent the spread of microbes and dirt.

We often hear in trainings and observe during work processes that cloths are not folded. When asked why, the answer is always “I don’t have time.” It is often believed that folding a cloth takes a lot of time and is cumbersome. To debunk this myth, we decided to find out how much time, on average, it takes to fold one cloth.

For this purpose, we organized a cloth folding competition at our exhibition booth during Puhastusimport OÜ’s Cleaning Day. Competitors had to fold the cloth into 16 sections and place it on the surface to begin work. There were as many as 106 participants. The fastest time was 3.16 seconds. We also decided to calculate the average time for all participants, which was 6 seconds.

6 seconds is a very short time when you consider what we spend on changing cloths (taking away and bringing new ones) and washing, instead of folding.

In conclusion, let’s fold the cloth, thereby saving valuable working time and making our work easier!
