Updated Cleaner Occupational Standard
On May 5, 2022, the Service Occupational Council approved the updated occupational standards for the cleaning sector for the next 5 years. Until March 1, 2023, professional qualification assessments may be conducted for students pursuing a qualification under the old standards, in accordance with the approved assessment standard. Currently, nothing has changed in the qualification awarding process. Spring exams will proceed as usual.
For groups commencing training in the autumn and progressing to the professional examination, both within vocational education institutions and the professional workforce, the updated assessment standards will already be in effect. The Professional Qualification Committee is currently engaged in updating these assessment standards. No significant changes are anticipated; rather, adjustments will be made to align with the renewed standards. We will keep you informed of these developments. Additionally, training for assessors and an information session will be held after the summer holidays.
The updated occupational standards can be reviewed on the Kutsekoda website and the Puhastusekspert website.
Key Changes:
- Kutsekoda has developed a new occupational standard format, which has led to changes in competency descriptions and a reduction in the number of competencies.
- At levels 2, 3, and 4, the specialization in room service was abolished due to an insufficient number of qualification applicants.
- Disinfectant cleaning agents are used in cleaning services as an infection prevention measure (biocides). Their use is specified in the standard.
- Readiness to use information technology tools in cleaning services.
For all levels of the updated standards, changes related to the previous occupational standard are highlighted. The information provided therein offers a precise overview of the standard’s changes for each respective level.
