Participation in the International Project “Cleaning Ergonomics – to Prevent Occupational Diseases and Accidents”

We are participating in the new international Erasmus+ project “Cleaning Ergonomics – to Prevent Occupational Diseases and Accidents”, and its kick-off meeting was held on January 24-25, 2022.

Ergonomics has been increasingly applied to achieve occupational health and safety goals. Cleaning is physically demanding work that takes place in various environments, and health is affected by chemical, biological, physical, and mental factors. Currently, there is a significant lack of awareness in this area, and people do not know how to identify hazards and risks. If hazards are unknown, it is impossible to avoid them. The situation is further complicated by the fact that the consequences of many problems become apparent later and are not immediately visible or felt.

In May 2021, we submitted a project application for an Erasmus+ strategic cooperation project and started the project in November 2021. Four countries are participating in the project – Estonia, Hungary, the Netherlands, and Finland.

The project duration is 3 years, and during this time, we plan to:

  • conduct an analysis of the 20 most common problems causing occupational diseases and work accidents in the cleaning sector;
  • develop training materials for preventing occupational diseases and work accidents;
  • a training program for preventing the 20 most common occupational diseases and work accidents.
